After 16 years in corporate America as a materials engineer, Doug made the decision to pursue a lifelong dream of being in real estate. The most important lesson corporate life taught Doug is that people always come first. Additionally, the experience of completing two major home remodels, combined with buying and selling his own homes, has created invaluable knowledge that will serve his clients well. Doug’s corporate experience, analytical thinking, and love for people, joined with training and resources of the F.C. Tucker Emge team, form a powerful combination.
A native of the Dallas area, Doug moved to Massachusetts to pursue an undergraduate degree at MIT. A few years later, he completed his Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering at UMass Amherst. That education ultimately brought Doug to Evansville via a relocation with SABIC (the former G.E. Plastics) where met and married his wife, Va Cun.
Together, Va and Doug comprise a unique, multi-cultural family, blending their African/Black-American and Chinese/Vietnamese-American heritages. Va and Doug share a mutual love of yoga and (co)-teach numerous classes in the Tri-state area. The Cun-Howie family also includes an oversized Shih Tzu and a young kitten adopted from the local Humane Society.
When Doug is not working or spending time with family, he pursues his passion of teaching and practicing judo. Doug has also has more than 30 years of experience as a lay music minister and still lends his vocal talents to his Line Street Church family as needed. Prior to leaving SABIC, Doug also spent several years mentoring kids in the Posey county school system. Community involvement and awareness are important to Doug and his wife Va, and they now offer free yoga classes to underserved communities.
As a true lover of people, Doug stands ready to help with all aspects of buying or selling a home.
